A Clear Path from Vision to Reality
Building your dream home is a big decision—and it should be an exciting and rewarding experience. At Hewn Custom Home Design, we’ve developed a proven process that keeps things simple, transparent, and collaborative every step of the way.
From your first consultation to the final walkthrough (and beyond), we focus on clear communication, expert guidance, and meticulous craftsmanship—so you can enjoy the journey as much as the result.
Our Build Process
Step 1: Initial Consultation & Design
It all begins with a conversation. We meet with you—typically on-site if you already have land—to learn about your vision, needs, and goals. Together, we discuss timelines, design preferences, and any specific requirements your property may have.
This stage ensures a shared understanding of your project’s scope and helps lay the groundwork for a successful build.
Step 2: Land Selection & Site Preparation
If you don’t yet have land, we assist with finding and securing the perfect lot. If you already have your property, we begin prepping the site—handling everything from tree clearing and grading to infrastructure planning—while managing permits to keep things moving.
Step 3: Design Finalization & Customization
With the land secured and plans drafted, we work closely with you to review, refine, and finalize your home’s design. This is where your personal style shines through—from architectural elements to interior selections.
We collaborate with trusted vendors to bring every detail together, ensuring your home feels uniquely yours.
Step 4: Construction Phases
Once design is locked in, construction begins. Our process typically spans 7 to 8 months and follows key milestones: Foundation, Framing, Mechanical Rough-In, Drywall, Cabinets, Tile, Paint, Flooring, Mechanical Trim, Landscape & Exterior Finishes, Final Interior Punch.
Throughout each phase, we maintain open communication and handle all inspections, ensuring precision and quality every step of the way.
Step 5: Orientation & Move-In
As your home nears completion, we’ll schedule a Home Orientation to walk you through your new space, explain key systems, and address any final adjustments. On closing day, we conduct a final walkthrough to confirm every detail is perfect before you move in.
Step 6: Post-Construction Support & Warranty
Our relationship doesn’t end at move-in. Through our warranty platform, you can easily submit any warrantable items for review. At the 11-month mark, we schedule a follow-up to ensure everything continues to meet our high standards—and yours.
